Con diez estaciones en La Rioja y 35 pasos a nivel, presenta curvas que limitan las velocidades a 75-90 km/h. El tramo Logroño-Miranda de Ebro destaca por limitaciones geométricas, ofreciendo un tiempo de viaje de 55 minutos para 48 km en línea recta. Aunque no está saturada, su capacidad se ve afectada por la falta de atractivo para los usuarios de servicios de viajeros.
