If the University City of Madrid is full of something, it is stories - memories, anecdotes, chimeras, legends... Not all of these stories, however, are worthy or susceptible of being recorded, archived. There are documents that attest to events of various kinds with special historical and social interest for both the University and the Spanish capital, which occurred on the ground of the campus through which thousands of students pass daily. That is why the General Archive of the Complutense University is responsible for guaranteeing the adequate inventory and safeguarding of said documents. Although the origins of the aforementioned institution date back to the first half of the 16th century, when the University had its headquarters in Alcalá de Henares, the presence of the Archive in CIU territory particularly draws our attention. Consequently, we, the historians Manuel Rendón and Laura Prado, the art historian Misael Niceto and the musicologist Cristina Palomares; have begun an investigation with the objective of tracing the signs of the different historical events whose memory permeates the walls of our faculties, recomposing the possible stories through the documentation kept in the General Archive of the Complutense University.
