LGTBIQ+ associations in the university context: Arcopoli Ten years after the foundation of RTQR, in 2004, a new association linked to the LGTBIQ+ collective emerged under the name of Arcopoli. Its headquarters was established in the Higher Technical School of Architecture of Madrid (ETSAM), linked to the Polytechnic University of Madrid, being at first an association of said school but later becoming an inter-center association throughout the UPM and later, coming to the UCM through the Faculty of Informatics, thus spreading through different campuses and faculties of Ciudad Universitaria. Arcopoli defines itself as an association that works for the social and legal equality of lesbian, gay, transsexual and bisexual people, carrying out different acts to achieve it, such as the organization of talks given by members and by specialists, on various issues related to sexuality, health and the rights of LGTBIQ+ people, campaigns for the prevention, visibility and normalization of HIV and of people carrying it, complaints and protests against homophobic, biphobic and transphobic demonstrations, or acts visibility of the LGTBIQ+ collective, among others. Since 2006 they have also been part of the State Federation of Lesbians, Gays, Transsexuals and Bisexuals (FELGTB), where they collaborate with activists from all over Spain and even internationally. Their main objective is to defend the rights of LGBT people, which is why they created the Madrid Observatory against LGTBphobia (www.contraelodio.org) in the same year. Arcopoli coordinates it and other associations and institutions collaborate in it. With all this, this association created in the university context of the Complutense and the Polytechnic demonstrates once again the creation of the LGTBIQ+ Heritage of the campus.
